Applications

Calcium Polysulfide has been in use for more than a century, but primarily for agricultural applications. Today, it is routinely used for treatment of heavy metals in soil, groundwater and wastewater.

Remotox, a Calcium Polysulfide Solution for treatment of heavy metals in soil, groundwater and wastewater.

REMOTOX® removes chromates and dichromates without prior reduction of the chromium to its trivalent state. Electrolyse nickel and other metals in process wastewater can be effectively treated. It can break and precipitate chelated and/or complexed metals, typically without pretreatment. REMOTOX can be adapted to enhance any existing treatment system.

Soil and Groundwater

REMOTOX, Calcium Polysulfide Solution, is considered to be an ideal reducing agent for soil and groundwater remediation, due to its effective ability to stabilize heavy metals and other pollutants. It precipitates highly soluble metals as less soluble, less toxic metal sulfides. Hexavalent chromium, Cr(VI), is reduced to trivalent levels, Cr(III), which then precipitates as a hydroxide.

REMOTOX® has proven to capture mercury in flue gases and scrubber solutions. It has additionally proven effective in removing lead, copper, thallium, cadmium, nickel, zinc, iron, silver and other metals commonly found in power plant waste and scrubber wastewater.

Calcium Polysulfide removes chromates and dichromates, elctrolyse nickel, zinc and other metals in process wastewater.

Over the past 40 years, this multivalent-ion sulfur chemistry has been well studied and successfully applied for the environmental remediation of heavy metal ions and other contaminants.
