REMOTOX® is a Calcium Polysulfide Solution formed through the reaction of calcium hydroxide, elemental sulfur and water.
REMOTOX® is a calcium polysulfide liquid solution with a typical pH of 11.5. The solution is deep red in color and may have a slight rotten egg odor. Typical weight of the solution is 10.6 pounds per U.S. gallon (1.27 gm/cc). The concentration (active ingredient) of the solution is 29% by weight. REMOTOX® is produced in the Western United States and readily available for immediate shipment in drums, IBC totes and in bulk tank trucks. This product is not regulated by the DOT. Solutions of REMOTOX® are considered stable in normal transportation.
When containers are tightly sealed and stored at moderate temperature, REMOTOX® has been tested to maintain its effectiveness for a minimum of one year.
REMOTOX® is corrosive due to its caustic nature. Workers are advised to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to avoid exposure to the skin and eyes. Materials of construction suitable for storing REMOTOX® include stainless steel, fiberglass, high density polyethylene and polypropylene, ABS, PVC, Teflon.
