Remotox® is a calcium polysulfide liquid solution with a typical pH of 11.5. The solution is deep red in color and may have a slight rotten egg odor. Typical weight of the solution is 10.6 pounds per U.S. gallon (1.27 gm/cc). Solution concentrations range from 29 to 34% w/w (weight by weight). This product is not regulated by the DOT. Solutions of Remotox® are considered stable in normal transportation. Remotox® is manufactured in the United States and readily available to ship in drums, IBC totes and in bulk tank trucks. When containers are tightly sealed and stored at moderate temperature, Remotox® has been tested to maintain its effectiveness for a minimum of one year.
Remotox® is corrosive due to its caustic nature. Workers are advised to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to avoid exposure to the skin and eyes. Materials of construction suitable for storing Remotox® include stainless steel, fiberglass, high density polyethylene and polypropylene, ABS, PVC, Teflon.
