FAQs

  • What does Graus Chemicals specialize in?

Graus Chemicals specializes in supplying REMOTOX to the environmental industry for the remediation of heavy metals and other contaminants of regulatory concern.

  • What is REMOTOX?

REMOTOX is a liquid, inorganic Calcium Polysulfide Solution consisting of multiple sulfur compounds, such as sulfide, sulfite, polysulfide, thiosulfate, and dithionate, which exhibit strong bonding capabilities with metals. The solution is deep red in color and may have a slight rotten egg odor. Typical concentration of the solution is 29% by weight.

  • What industries or applications is REMOTOX® used for?

REMOTOX is used in several key application areas, including:

    - Soil and groundwater remediation

    - Industrial and municipal wastewater treatment

    - Power plant waste and scrubber wastewater treatment

    - Mining remediation and reclamation

  • What contaminants can REMOTOX® help treat?

REMOTOX is commonly used to address a wide range of heavy metals, inorganic compounds and chlorinated solvents.

  • Why choose REMOTOX® over other reagents?

    REMOTOX offers several advantages, including:

    - High reactivity with heavy metals

    - Ability to form less soluble metal sulfides over a wide pH range

    - Effective treatment of chelated or complexed metals

    - It is non-toxic and water soluble

    - Cost-effective, practical and fairly safe to handle

  • Is REMOTOX® a liquid or dry material?

    REMOTOX is a liquid solution.

  • What is the weight (lbs/gal) of REMOTOX?

The typical weight of REMOTOX is 10.6 pounds per gallon (1.27 gm/cc).

  • What is the crystallization temperature of REMOTOX?

REMOTOX solutions exposed to temperatures below 32 °F for extended times may begin to crystallize.

  • Is REMOTOX® available in different packaging and shipment options?

Yes, REMOTOX is available to ship in varous container types, including:

    - Pails

    - Drums

    - IBC totes

    - Bulk Tank Truck

This flexibility allows the product to support both small-scale and large-scale remediation or treatment projects.

  • How should REMOTOX® be stored and handled?

REMOTOX should be stored in compatible materials, such as stainless steel, figerglass, HDPE, polypropylene, ABS, PVC and Teflon. Because the product is corrosive due to its caustic nature (pH ~11.5), users should wear apropriate PPE, avoid skin and eye exposure, use it outdoors or in well ventilated areas, and avoid mixing it with acids, combustibles or oxidizers.

  • How long does REMOTOX® remain effective in storage?

When tightly sealed and stored at moderate temperature and out of direct sunlight, REMOTOX has been tested to maintain its effectiveness for a minimum of one year.

  • Where is REMOTOX® produced?

REMOTOX is produced in the Western United States with regionally sourced raw materials.
